TRAINING DIVISION
INTAKE 11 GRADUATION CEREMONY
On Sunday 25th September 2005 Two Hundred and Twenty (220) young men and women entered the Jamaica Fire Brigade Training School for what would be a life changing experience for those who made it through the training programme. This training programme spanned approximately Twelve (12) weeks. Recruits were trained in both the practical and theoretical areas of firefighting .Upon entry recruits were put through an orientation process which includes a tour of the facilities and safety regulations which are paramount to the organization. They were then taught the rules of the training in dept. which follows on to the rules of the job so in essence they were familiarized with the job. The theoretical programme covers approximately 19 subject areas, training in all the subjects excepting Chemistry, Mathematics and Electricity can only be received from fire service related institutions so they aren’t taught in ordinary universities N.B.(Recruits must pass progress tests during training and a final exam to be eligible for graduation). After Twelve (12) weeks of intense training, only Two Hundred and Seven (207) of the Two Hundred and Twenty (220) endured. Those which remained were now worthy to be called Firefighters of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, these new Firefighters were then deployed (in accordance to the needs of each Division) to address the present shortage the Jamaica Fire Brigade is now facing.
Set out below, are the number of recruits deployed to each Division.
